Decorations and Vroom

Last Friday was a pretty impressive day for the future Ohs. We bought a car and we decided on some of our wedding decorations.

Pictures to the below you can see us with our brand new Toyota Matrix...it is officially our car --but Brian will be the one driving it the most. Our first big purchase as a couple!!! Next will come a house...woof!

We decided that origami cranes would be our wedding favor. We will be making 1000 origami cranes for the wedding. Read about the significance of 1000 cranes:

The ancient practice of a man and woman folding 1,000 cranes for their wedding is called sembazuru. The tradition itself is called Tsuru wa sennen. The time and energy put into the hand-folded cranes symbolized the patience and trust necessary to sustain a happy marriage.

Date and Locations are set

Save the date, July 26, 2008

On Monday we paid the deposit to have the wedding reception at Como Zoo and Conservatory. It is a great relief to have the place of our choice. This is the nice part about planning early! We will be having our reception in the Bullard Rainforest Auditorium, it over looks zoo and right outside the window which will be right behind us you will find the bird paradise which should have flamingos inhabiting the area. Good times. http://www.comozooconservatory.org/como_park/amenities/visitorcenter.shtml

On Thursday we paid the deposit for the Church, we will be having the wedding at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, http://www.saintandrews.org/. Brian's and his family are members of the church. His parents were also married in this church and his grandparents have been apart of it for quite sometime as well; so a lot of history in one church.

We have been doing some searching for Reception locations. Thus far we have looked at Como Zoo Visitor Center, The Grand (stillwater) and The Withrow. Como is amazing, the Grand is beautiful and the Withrow was frightful.

This is a picture of a room at Como that we absolutely love. It is very elegant and bright. In the summer you can see the Bird Sanctuary out the windows with Flamingos and other birds, should be beautiful. This would be our top choice.

Below are 2 pictures of the Grand. It is a wonderful location with a lot of history. Seems to accommodate more people that we will invite, but is a very beautiful place to hold a wedding.

No other updates yet and nothing definitive yet. Hope to be married July 26, 2008 (a Saturday) at St. Andrew's church. We'll keep you posted on everything. Our best!
